Micro Action to Macro Action
Change is hard. It’s messy and overwhelming. The fear of change, doing something new or creating something from scratch can actually keep you from taking the first step and it’s especially true when it comes to starting a business. There is so much to think about, to figure out, to understand that your fears can easily get in the way. You may stop before you even begin.
However, the secret to making things happen isn’t the big goal.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” - Lao Tzu
The most important thing is the series of small steps you take each day to move towards reaching that goal. I call these small steps micro-actions.
Micro-actions are small, yet powerful, actions you take continuously over a period of time that leads you to reach your ultimate goal.
Micro-actions are like magic. The moment you commit to action, no matter how small, you put your goal in motion. You tell the universe “I’m ready to make things happen.”
The reason most people don’t ever reach their goals is that they make the process too overwhelming. They give up because it gets too hard and it takes too long. They lose sight of the small micro-actions because they are only focused on the big macro-actions.
Don’t assume in order to achieve a big goal you have to do big things. A better approach to reaching your goal is to focus on what micro step you can take today. Only focus on what needs to be achieved today and stop worrying about the big goal. Over time your micro-actions will lead to your macro action.
If you’ve been thinking about starting your own business, start with small micro-actions. It can be something as simple as ideating over the name and tagline of your business, watching a webinar in the industry you want to pursue or connecting with someone you admire that has done something similar.
By breaking the process down into small steps, it takes away the overwhelming fear of change and gives you a concrete place to start. All those micro-actions build on each other so you get one step closer to achieving macro action every day.
You don’t need to have everything figured out immediately. The best thing to do is start taking action today, doing something daily or weekly, and tackling the small things.
That’s how I started my online business. I create online programs and courses for both job seekers and entrepreneurs. It’s how I’ve scaled my business and how I’m generating multiple sources of income. And it all started with micro action. I took one small step every day to build my online business. It was overwhelming, it was hard, it took a long time, but I did it by focusing on one small action every single day.
Io start now with taking a micro action.
Let today be the start of something new.
It’s time to get paid for being YOU and sharing with the world what you do best.
